Bishop. Frank Black. You know who I'm talking about.
I think of what an amazing talent he is, and how I wish more projects like Millennium were on his resume; projects that showcase the intensity and precision of his work. I think of how kind he was to me when I met him, and how, if I ever find a way to make my feature film, Nothing But Time, I would spend 90% of my budget to have him as Brother Parks. I would carry his coffee, buy his smokes, cook him steaks (even though I'm vegetarian); buy a bunch of the beautiful pottery he makes, to benefit the charity of his choice. Whatever he wanted. Just to have him be a part of the project. Just to watch him work.
Sigh. See how happy I look? It was genuine.

He was great in 'Dead Man' too....one of my all-time favourites films. Quality actor.
I really really wanted to like Dead Man, but I just couldn't connect to it. Period film, great cinematography, great performances (yes, especially Lance--geez, was he evil--I still can't get the image of him gnawing at that arm out of my head); what's not to like? But by the end, I found myself just sort of worn out, rather than emotionally affected in any way. Perhaps that was Jamusch's intent--I don't know.
And not to insult your taste, by any means...we all connect to different art. Keeps things interesting.
